Review For Movie To The Wonder
Essentially it's an agglomeration of Malick's worst stylistic annoyances.
Peter Rainer-Christian Science Monitor

A thing of great beauty, but not much more.
Bill Goodykoontz-Arizona Republic

We should not be exiting a Terrence Malick movie with a shrug, but there it is.
Richard Roeper-Richard Roeper.com

Chary of exposition, meagre of plot, derisory of dialogue, indifferent to comprehension, it's a project that veers perilously close to self-parody.
Michael Posner-Globe and Mail

Mostly, it's solemn intonations of bad poetry over open-field twirling scenes and long serious looks of love, tenderness and cosmic understanding.
Tom Long-Detroit News

"To the Wonder" is a trailer for itself, although it could be mistaken for a high-end perfume commercial ...
John Anderson-Newsday

Indisputably comes off as a minor work on the heels of Malick's The Tree of Life but still holds enough of interest for the initiated.
Matt Brunson-Creative Loafing

Malick succeeds in creating his a separate reality, one drenched with longing and fear.
Boo Allen-Denton Record Chronicle (TX)

Trying to hold onto any part of it is like trying to catch meringue in a baseball glove.
Lawrence Toppman-Charlotte Observer

Fragmentary to the point of being formless and devoid of any motivation or momentum, it's the first of Malick's works to feel more like a sketchbook than a film.
Jason Anderson-The Grid

It looks great, the sound is interesting, the actors are doing what they are asked to do, but it didn't hit me the way The Tree of Life did. For fans only.
Alonso Duralde-What the Flick?!

Any half-serious filmgoers need to see "To the Wonder" for themselves; it remains the product of a fascinating mind.
Marc Mohan-Oregonian

If you have the ability to ignore Affleck, To the Wonder is a visual stunner, with a surprising transcendental enthusiasm for everything.
Richard von Busack-MetroActive

Gorgeous cinematography by Emmanuel Lubezki almost makes 'To the Wonder' worth seeing. Unfortunately, director/writer Terrence Malick fails to flesh out this drama with a plot we can follow.
Betty Jo Tucker-ReelTalk Movie Reviews

Malick, who is obviously unconcerned with his film's commercial success, continues to work with cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki, and together they have grown immensely fond of long, lovely shots of nature.
Jeanne Kaplan-Kaplan vs. Kaplan

Malick's films are more self-indulgent than other filmmakers. He is enamored with his own camera work, and whether or not his subject matter is germane to the story is largely up to the viewer.
David Kaplan-Kaplan vs. Kaplan

While it may be filmed beautifully, To the Wonder doesn't exactly move its gestating 112-minute duration along any faster with everyone on-screen galloping around their front yard or a field full of slow moving bison genitalia.
Chris Sawin-Examiner.com

Frankly, To The Wonder becomes bogged and down and more than a little bit boring over the course of its two hours.
Jonah Flicker-Paste Magazine

Once the shock of seeing a Sonic Drive-In in a Malick film wears off, the movie leaves little to ponder beyond the sketchily drawn romance drama at its core.
Ben Kenigsberg-Time Out Chicago

This latest Terrence Malick piece will make you wonder about a lot of things as your mind wanders through the nooks and crannies of his spinning labyrinth of textures and fragmented narrative.
Katherine Monk-Canada.com

Some filmmakers put feelings into words; Malick uses smoke signals and semaphore to express things felt but unspoken. How you interpret them is up to you.
Duane Dudek-Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Watch Bert Stern: Original Madman Movie with Full HD Format

Movie Title : Bert Stern: Original Madman
Release Date : Apr 5, 2013 Limited
Genre :Documentary,Special Interest
Mpaa Rating : Unrated

Bert Stern, also known for his seminal film Jazz on a Summer's Day, experienced a meteoric career that began as a mailroom-boy at Look Magazine, where he formed a close relationship with young staff photographer Stanley Kubrick. The launch of Stern's career and the Golden Age of Advertising would coincide with Stern's iconic and legendary "Driest of the Dry" campaign for Smirnoff in 1955. Set against the backdrop of the Egyptian pyramids, this ad would sell more vodka than Smirnoff had dreamed, transforming America into a martini-sipping country and launching Stern to star photographer status at the age of 25. Sought after by Madison Avenue, Hollywood, and the international fashion scene, Bert was at the heart of what creative director George Lois called "the creative evolution." His groundbreaking images of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, Marilyn Monroe, Twiggy and the infamous Lolita image from Kubrick's film, coupled with his astonishing success in advertising, minted Stern - along with Irving Penn and Richard Avedon - as a celebrity in his own right.

Bert
Review For Movie Bert Stern: Original Madman
It's a documentary that's filled with beautiful images but nonetheless feels unfocused.
Moira MacDonald-Seattle Times

If someone is that bored with their own life, it's not clear why we should bother listening in, no matter what they've accomplished.
Kenneth Turan-Los Angeles Times

While Bert Stern: Original Madman mines its subject's work for a steady stream of striking visuals, his self-narration proves to be of little interest, offering little variation on a single theme: his love/lust for women.
Ronnie Scheib-Variety

An unappealing jumble of sex, regret and hero worship, "Bert Stern" is an odd tribute to brilliance muffled by lust.
Jeannette Catsoulis-New York Times

Despite its admittedly intriguing parts, the film ultimately feels too diffuse and self-indulgent to represent a truly incisive portrait of its subject.
Frank Scheck-Hollywood Reporter

The film does offer some revealing anecdotes about his infamous Monroe sessions, but mostly, it simply slouches from one sensationalistic, salacious bit to the next, sans any historical context.
David Fear-Time Out New York

Here's a documentary that comes from an unusual angle, the subject's lover looking at both the artist and the man dispensing with rose colored glasses.
Laura Clifford-Reeling Reviews

There are myriad problems with Bert Stern: Original Mad Man -- not the least of which is a title that shamelessly and needlessly gropes for relevance by attempting to cozy up with Don Draper and co.
David Berry-National Post

Absolutely smashing, revealing documentary about one of the great photographers of our time.
David Noh-Film Journal International

Highly entertaining, but not revealing or insightful enough.
Avi Offer-NYC Movie Guru

Rote, rushed, and utterly uninterested in the power of Stern as an innovator of image, making it effectively the opposite of the output of the artist it attempts to document.
Caroline McKenzie-Slant Magazine

Review For Movie Orchestra Of Exiles
It is a moving tale -- especially because so many of the people interviewed are descendants of the violinists, French horn players, pianists and others who escaped Nazi Germany and other countries of prewar Europe.
Nancy DeWolf Smith-Wall Street Journal

Writer-director Josh Aronson's flaccid "Orchestra of Exiles" squanders the material's promise.
Mark Feeney-Boston Globe

It's a great, too-little-known piece of history.
Peter Rainer-Christian Science Monitor

"Orchestra of Exiles" aspires to a level of primary research that other historical documentaries could take a page from.
Nicolas Rapold-New York Times

Orchestra of Exiles will interest anyone who's concerned with European Jewry or classical music in the first half of the 20th century. But it provides mostly the facts of Huberman's legacy and little of the flavor.
Mark Jenkins-NPR

It's amazing a Hollywood retelling hasn't happened already.
Joe Neumaier-New York Daily News

Undoubtedly stirring documentary, marred by that seemingly inescapable, audience-non-trusting bane: the re-enactment.
David Noh-Film Journal International

The story of one of the greatest orchestras in the world, born out of one of the worst tragedies of the 20th century, the holocaust.
Ron Wilkinson-Monsters and Critics

Its episodic nature poses a narrative challenge that director Josh Aronson's just barely feature-length documentary can't quite surmount.

Movie Title : How to Survive a Plague
Release Date : Sep 21, 2012 Limited
Genre :Documentary,Special Interest
Mpaa Rating : Unrated

How to Survive a Plague is the story of two coalitions-ACT UP and TAG (Treatment Action Group)-whose activism and innovation turned AIDS from a death sentence into a manageable condition. Despite having no scientific training, these self-made activists infiltrated the pharmaceutical industry and helped identify promising new drugs, moving them from experimental trials to patients in record time. With unfettered access to a treasure trove of never-before-seen archival footage from the 1980s and '90s, filmmaker David France puts the viewer smack in the middle of the controversial actions, the heated meetings, the heartbreaking failures, and the exultant breakthroughs of heroes in the making. -- (C) Official Site

Review For Movie How to Survive a Plague
As this stirring, scrupulous doc reveals, the members of ACT UP fused the fervor of revolutionaries, the tenacity of trial lawyers, and the rage of the dispossessed to change the very shape of the epidemic.
Owen Gleiberman-Entertainment Weekly

From a terrible epidemic comes a beautiful documentary.
Michael Phillips-Chicago Tribune

A raw history, often cluttered and sometimes repetitive but, when strategies fail along with immune systems, deeply affecting.
Rick Groen-Globe and Mail

Presents a valuable template for how grassroots activism can temper societal prejudice and challenge governmental indifference in the face of a mysterious and remorseless killer.
Bruce Demara-Toronto Star

A serious, moving and sometimes astonishingly well-organized documentary about the history of AIDS activism.
John Hartl-Seattle Times

[A] powerful, messy and tremendously moving documentary ...
Claude Peck-Minneapolis Star Tribune

An indispensable and moving piece of filmmaking.
Niki Boyle-The List

[A] glorious ode to the supposition that a small group of committed people can change the world...
MaryAnn Johanson-Flick Filosopher

Plague offers an instructive lesson for Occupy-era rabble-rousers: Only when coupled with a knowledge base will your sound and fury signify anything.
A.A. Dowd-Time Out Chicago

The film is a tribute to political activism and the power of people to change the world.
Robert Roten-Laramie Movie Scope

One of the most powerful, fascinating and saddest documentaries of the last several years.
Stephen Silver-EntertainmentTell

What making a difference is really all about!
Jennifer Merin-New York Press

A cinematically sophisticated documentary that actually finds a way to be an intelligent and admirable work of art in addition to its more overt sociological implications.
Tim Brayton-Antagony & Ecstasy

A brilliant blueprint on how to spark a revolution. The activists who were highlighted in this film are American heroes to us all - gay, straight, black, white, male or female.
Clay Cane-BET.com

Compelling, important and inspiring documentary about the fight against AIDS.
Dennis Schwartz-Ozus' World Movie Reviews

Beautifully inspiring and, obviously, also a great cautionary tale.
Richard Knight-Knight at the Movies

A riveting look at LGBT protesters during the AIDS crisis - and an object lesson that if the revolution is going to be televised, it's good to have the revolutionaries holding the cameras.
Sean Means-Salt Lake Tribune

This is a moving documentary, as hopeful as it is tragic.
Mathew DeKinder-St. Louis Post-Dispatch

The title doesn't necessarily convey this, but "How to Survive a Plague" is an inspiring and hopeful documentary.
Chris Hewitt (St. Paul)-St. Paul Pioneer Press

Release Date : Sep 28, 2012 Limited
Genre :Documentary,Sports & Fitness

Led by the unique skills of Sarunas Marciulionis and Arvydas Sabonis, the 1992 Lithuanian Olympic basketball team helped their country break free from the shackles of Communism. After leading the USSR to a gold medal (and victory over the U.S.A.) at the '88 Seoul Olympics, Marciulionis and Sabonis were poster boys for the Soviet sports machine. Four year later, after the fall of the Soviet Union, they emerged as symbols of democracy, willing newly-independent Lithuania to the medal stand in Barcelona. The film documents the Lithuanians' experiences behind the Iron Curtain, where elite athletes were subjected to the vagaries of Communist rule. -- (C) Official Site

The
Review For Movie The Other Dream Team
You don't have to give a hoot about basketball to enjoy this movie. This is a movie about identifying with, admiring and responding to achievement in any form.
Tom Long-Detroit News

It is a dream fulfilled.
Dave Hoekstra-Chicago Sun-Times

Here's a twist on the plucky underdog sports movie. The Other Dream Team adds rock 'n' roll and eastern European history to the rah-rah mix.
Colin Covert-Minneapolis Star Tribune

Adding detailed historical context, the quirky feel-good story becomes a tragedy and a lesson. And that makes the victories resonate even more.
Peter Hartlaub-San Francisco Chronicle

Clearly, there's a story here. The documentary "The Other Dream Team" tells it in a smart, lively, if somewhat hectic fashion.
Mark Feeney-Boston Globe

An inspirational if overly talkative new documentary that lives at the intersection of nationalism and sport.
Chris Vognar-Dallas Morning News

...a deeply interesting, if conventionally structured and unflashy, documentary ... about the reassertion of national identity after generations of foreign oppression and the role of sport in nation building.
Philip Martin-Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

The Other Dream Team is both an exceptional and exceptionally inspiring film.
Jean Lowerison-ReviewExpress.com

In an era when so much of the focus in sports is on the glam and the glitz, it's nice to be reminded that it can still be about heart and soul, too.
Cary Darling-Fort Worth Star-Telegram/DFW.com

The Other Dream Team becomes less a simple paean to the triumph of the human spirit and more an admission of life's complexity and messiness.
Matt Prigge-Philadelphia Weekly

The Other Dream Team wasn't the 1992 Lithuanian Basketball movie that I necessarily wanted, but it could absolutely be the 1992 Lithuanian Basketball movie that you want, assuming you want such a thing.
Dan Fienberg-HitFix

Shows sports can have other goals besides winning.
Chris Foran-Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

"The Other Dream Team" is a saga of hope, courage and overcoming adversity and how a sport and its players helped a nation rekindle its voice and place on the world stage.
Bob Bloom-Journal and Courier (Lafayette, IN)

If you root for documentaries with heart, "The Other Dream Team" is a slam dunk.
Joe Williams-St. Louis Post-Dispatch

The lack of focus makes for a lackluster Documentary.
Austin Kennedy-Sin Magazine

This true-life sports story has a little of the same magic "Hoosiers" has.
Chris Hewitt (St. Paul)-St. Paul Pioneer Press

...a story that should be heard and remembered, because it reminds you that sometimes a sporting event carries meaning far outside the confines of the sport itself.
Sarah Boslaugh-PopMatters

An exceptional inspirational sports movie, precisely because the stakes were so high.
Frank Swietek-One Guy's Opinion

Quite often the film veers away from their stories to become a flag-waving work of Lithuanian nationalism.
Gerald Peary-Boston Phoenix
